A multi-author reviewing comic. We review anything from sprite comics to drawn comics
to manga. We base our reviews on Presentation, Neatness, Story, Characters, and Originality. We score comics on a rating of 1-10 and if a comic gets a low score, it can be reviewed again based on Improvements.
Regarding Author Collabs, All authors must be willing to have their comics reviewed. We will not review a comic that doesn't have the OK from all authors.
Here's the comic if anyone's interested in it: http://questforthechaosemeralds.smackjeeves.com/
Issues that did bother me in the comic were more out of the official characters themselves and have nothing to do with Slimey's comic. Such as if the Echidna tribe were intelligent enough to help create the Gizoid, why do they all still carry spears and live in huts (I assume it to be huts since I found no buildings in any of the comics and shows) with clothes that's more of a tribal feel? They built a robot that could survive for over four thousand years and still function perfectly as if only a few days have passed.....
Well, as they say "It's so easy a Caveman can do it."
This two page comic I made sadly feels badly done in presentation, but ever since Photoshop disappeared from this comp, I've been using paint to get by. Copying and pasting bit by bit, specific number of sentences by specific number of sentences, while my impatience slowly came way to insanity..... I have no idea if I'm doing this the hard way. If anyone would know how I could do this a bit quicker, I'd love to hear it. If there's no other way until I get Photoshop again, then I'll swallow my impatience and continue to do it this way but much more... care.... if I can manage....
Also, I added my own comic to the list, Ultimo Tourn's, if anyone's up for grabs with it.
@All authors: If there is a comic you are currently about to review or currently reviewing, let me know and I'll place your name next to the comic in the list.
@everyone: If there's anything that may look wrong with this review, I'd gladly accept the criticizm. For my own personal review, I placed too much text here and repeated a few issues a couple of times here....
Anyway, there WAS one thing that threw me off when I was about to review this. I was wondering, if Vanilla let them go to the mall for the chao, what was she doing out of the house? She made like no indication that she was going outside as well. That just threw me off.
Other than that, the only thing I disagree with the review with is the overall score of the plot because it kept my interest a bit more than the credit it was given. That's just imo though.
@Afro: You are correct there. But like I said (some time ago but I can't remember what) every author's review is mostly based on opinion of a comic. I could enjoy broccoli sandwitches (never tried it before, but it's interesting to think of...) and give the score a 10 while you would give it a 5. Doesn't mean your wrong, it's what you think. Well, thanks for your opinion on this review.
And I never thought about Vanilla going outside.... I assumed she wanted to go see Sonic and Sally about something she found out about the Chaos emeralds, and the robots got to her first before she could tell the others ^^
That reminds me, I never placed it on my review, but I wondered why did it take 8 whole years for Vanilla to tell Sonic and Sally about the Chaos emeralds! It said 8 years passed when Tails and Cream were older and Vanilla gave Sonic and Sally info on it....
I can't wrap my head around that for how it could take that long.
@Cresent
I don't mean to nitpick but the Malakite in me read your description of originality, based on how you wrote and described it, it didn't fit a 7/10, it sounded like the mark was more along 3-4 out of 10. Not that I'm disagree with your review Its just what I sorta felt as I was reading your description.
@Cresent: For that matter, how do Tails and Cream like so different 8 years later, but Sonic and Sal look exactly the same? That 8 years seemed more like it was just a period for Tails and Cream to grow than it was an actual time passing.
Haahaha private messages only. Problem is I'm already reviewing a comic and after that i'll be on vacation for 3 weeks. If you can wait till mid september when I come back i'll review it, if not, there are plenty of reviewers here. I thank you for choosing me, i feel flattered XD
@Everyone
Alright, after a bit of deciding, anyone who wants me to review their comic, send a private message to me and i'll put you on a list, i'll do a couple of reviews while i'm on vacation. Since i'll be in a more peaceful environment I can probably come up with some better content. So yea, Pm's and i'll tell you the order of the review your on and then yea, i work on it. If you don't want to wait, there are other capable people here to review, I appreciate that i've attracted many people's attention here but I don't want to take over the damn site XD
@Mal: When the comic reached a point where Sonic and Sally battled Robotnik alone and the whole act EXACTLY like their media counter-parts, you would've seen a 3-4 there. But the author added a bit of spice here and there in the comic. The quest for the chaos emeralds are the same, but the actions involved and plot twists are far different.... yeah, I probably could've made it a bit more noticable on my review....
But really dude, you're going on vacation to get a vacation. You're supposed to be relaxing and chillin', not being 'on the job'. If that relaxes you, go on ahead and review. Otherwise, just relax and leave it to us. The comic won't go crashing on you while you have some fun. :)
Feels awkward asking, but is there an inactivity limit on comics that you guys review here? I ask because I'd like to have my comic "Everlasting Peace and All That..." reviewed, but it's been on something of an artist's block hiatus for going on five months now.
There's virtually no indication of any review submission guidelines anywhere around here. Just "post if you want your comic reviewed".
@ Kayorei- It's fine if you havn't been activlely updating the comic lately, as long as it has at least 10 pages we'll add it to the list for review
@ floob- ummm... I thought since you were kinda sorta a reviewer here you would have known by now that there's a 10 comic minimum before a review can be done? Just get at least 6 more pages up and ask again, then we'd be happy to *nod*
Okay...
I'm Finally back from the GC, so I can finally see this this review for more than five minutes (Hotel internet really doesn't come cheap)
Anyways, I would ultimately say something about how grammar/spelling is a bit overgraded, but instead I'll just poke at your questioning how primitives wielding spears could somehow build robots.
Well, it's a long debatable topic that always sprouted in various Final Fantasy discussions (For short, I'll just call it "The Airship Paradox").
It's when various technological objects/weapons seem to clash with the date in time where game it originated from takes place (most commonly from the original FF game, the airship) and it was almost always claimed that ancient civilizations or a very smart individual were the ones who created the said object/weapon and we're just supposed to accept it with no questions asked.
Granted this is not an intelligent thing to do most of the time, but also you should never question the author/storyteller/whatever, because more than likely they can't explain it either.
However, I will hopefully clear up my Airship Paradox during Knuckles story as soon as that gets told (hopefully before it matures into Donna Troy's disease)
@Yama
No, nobody reviewed True Sigma. I originally posted it some time before CN's "The story of Capy" review, but I don't see a review for it listed in the jumpbox and I don't see the comic's name on the to-do list.
@Slimey: I never questioned you about how the Echidna's built the Gizoid. This was a question made entirely outside of my review. No points docked from that.
@Cresent Night
I know, I just thought that I may as well answer that.
Also, the review stated that Lara-Su was an edit. She's actually an official character, but she's only been in a few issues (Mainly an uncanon sub-story called M25YL). But not many people would know this unless they were a huge fan of the comics.
Now that you mention it, the name does stir something in my head....
Either way it still looks like a male in your comic, but I'm not sure if that's how Lara-Su is supposed to look in the comic (Only read about her; don't know what she exactly looks like).
Or it could just be that I see her one way and other readers may see her another way. Like comparing a cucumber to a pickle.
So she's a Tomboy... well, that explains a lot ^^"
You could use a base that would make her look a bit taller if she's that tall in this pick. This image personifies her independence and the sprite you uses represents a timid version of her....
I don't know what characters Deebs was using as a reference to create this character, all I know is that she looks like she's 12 and shorter in comparison to the other Sonic characters in your comic....
*sighs* will one of you bastards post a review already!! I'm sitting here on my vacation seeing nothing but dead silence around here and its making me ancy!! SOMEONE DO SOEMTHING!!!
By the way, I'm enjoying my vacation very muchly.
